HERO CREATION CONTEST #2
EXTENSION
Well, because everyone seems to be winding down and finally just now getting the time to work on entries, the contest will be getting extended by one week, until May 12, 2008 11:59PM GMT-5. Hopefully we'll be seeing some more entries now that this extension is here! I'll probably be harassing all of the entrants to ensure they are actually doing their entries. All other rules still apply.

We are sorry for the 36 hours downtime, it looks like the server had a couple of issues that have been fixed thanks to the effort of Tim and the company that hosts us.
So, let's pretend nothing happened, as a reminder, consider that the hero contest's deadline is approaching.
In the future if there's a downtime and you need information, you can try visiting us at the IRC server. |

I'm suprised no one's posted about this yet, but anyways Blizzard has introduced a new patch. Basically just log onto any server (I think, I did it with Northrend), then exit and select your sever again, Westfall will be there. Westfall is a BETA realm that is used by Blizzard to test new patches and will probably be taken down in another 2-3 weeks(Thanks to MackieeE for the information).
You can log in, but when you do you have to download a BETA patch, v 1.22. I read the change log a bit, nothing too new, though you now have the option to always display health bars above units (no spamming ALT ftw!). I did not look in the WE yet.
Be warned, if you DL the BETA patch, you cannot access the other severs, unless you re-DL the old patch. Which is okay because blizzard makes it so that if you try to log on to say, Azeroth, it will automatically download the patch that transfers back, neither patch is that large.
But yeah interesting news, here's a screenshot for all you doubters:

HERO CREATION CONTEST #2
ARTISTS & CODERS UNITE
You may remember WC3C's successful first hero contest, well now we're holding the second one! This time around though, we're kicking it up a notch and trying to involve multiple aspects of the site in one tremendous contest of skill. Both artists and coders will unite together to enter into this contest: the artist will choose and create one aspect of the hero's graphics while the coder will provide the hero with spells. With good teamwork, the end result will be worthy of taking the last hero spot in the WC3 tavern!

As the new projects director it is my pleasure to announce that wc3campaigns has gained a new hosted project:
Power of Corruption is an altered melee game featuring Naga and Demons fighting for supremacy. The project is led by moyack, an accomplished coder and an outstanding contributor to our forums. Many of you have probably already noticed the new Power of Corruption hosted project forum, but those of you that haven't be sure to check it out here.
On behalf of the wc3campaigns staff, I'd like to once again welcome moyack to our hosted projects and wish him all the best of luck with his promising map. |

As many of you may have noticed, WC3Campaigns now has some new admins.- Rising Dusk - Development Director
- Anitarf - Projects Director
- Captain Griffen - Content Director
Together with our great technical director, Vexorian, this team of more active admins should result in faster decisions being made on a variety of subjects. We've already made a decision on a hosted project (more on that is coming soon), and the Map Submission area is enjoying some much needed attention.
On the moderators side of things, Ignitedstar has been put in charge of the RP forum, while Pyrogasm has been made a resource moderator. Congratulations to them, and we're sure they'll do a good job of it.
If you have any concerns, ideas or issues such as project hosting requests, don't hesitate to drop us a PM. |
